I have a D70s and am having a miserable time trying to get it to fire a remote. The only reliable fire I get is with the AS-15 adapter. I bought the "ebay" radio slave, unit test fired ok, didn't work in the hot shoe. They replaced the unit, the replacement had the same problem. I just bought a used Quantum 4i wireless trigger. It works fine with the test button, won't fire from the hot shoe. Same unit fires on every try from my N80. Tried my N90s and it fires every second try. Anyone know anything about this? I'm trying to use my Metz CT-4 units for hockey, but the only game I was successful was with the pc cord in the adapter, and that means I can only use one light.

Sounds like the flash is going to sleep and the first shutter release wakes it up and the second triggers the flash. Does that sound accurate?

For the N90 it sounds accurate. The N80 fired every time. Problem is I need to get this to work with my digital camera. Is there some reason this camera can't fire a remote trigger from the hot shoe? With the unit in place, the test button works every time. Trip the shutter, nothing. Very frustrating.

Well here's an interesting development. If you hook up the off camera SC-17 cord, the remote trigger fires every time. Put the trigger in the hot shoe itself, and it won't fire or test.
