Covering The Photo Beat: Straps, Heads, Pocketcams, And Software
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera
The new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is compact, lightweight, and easy to hold in your hand. It has an industry standard Super 16 size sensor that is perfect when using Super 16 cine lenses via MFT adapters and the 13 stops of dynamic range look is almost identical to shooting with a pro Super 16 film camera. The Micro Four Thirds lenses are compatible with mount adapters such as PL mounts for large lenses and pro motion picture film rigs. It includes an easy-to-use SD card recorder that allows the full sensor dynamic range to be recorded in ProRes 422 (HQ) format and 12-bit Log Raw lossless compressed CinemaDNG format. The camera is a great companion to editing software such as Final Cut Pro X and Avid Media Composer. The suggested price is $995.
The monoball Z1g+ From Arca-Swiss
The new monoball Z1g+ is a highly sophisticated device that is 30 percent smaller and lighter than the old model and designed to provide a firm hold while allowing for smooth and accurate positioning of your camera. The features include the new Motion Related Gravity Control (MRGC), a variable, bidirectional drag that operates independently on both axes and is stabilized in all directions. With horizontal movement friction remains constant, but with vertical movement the friction increases progressively. The monoball Z1g+ comes with additional panning above the ball, allowing for perfectly horizontal panning irrespective of the placement of the tripod. The suggested price is $749.

Dinkum Systems ActionPod & ActionPod PRO
The ActionPod and ActionPod PRO are universal clamping monopod mounts that were created for fast-paced, multiple-angle shoots. Simply clamp this monopod anywhere—from a tree branch to the handle of your bike, a car door, a ski pole, a door frame, a tabletop, or even a skateboard. The ActionPod is great for use with small cameras when traveling light or on the go. The ActionPod PRO model features a longer flexible seven-link, 10” arm and a larger spring clamp for greater flexibility (it can clamp onto surfaces up to 2” thick). It is ideal for holding a scope, camera lights, and more.
FLM CB-58FTR Ball Head
The CB-58FTR Centerball is FLM’s largest ball head. Designed and built to accept both a horizontal and vertical load of 132.2 lbs, the durable, hollow CNC-machined ball weighs less than 2 lbs. The popular tilt lock feature allows you to lock the side-to-side movement of the head at any angle and permits front-to-back movement. The PRS knob is great for panoramic shooting since it offers an audible and tactile click at every 15 degrees when panning. The Friction Memory Ring will lock the friction at a preset value allowing you to tighten the ball head further, but not loosen it any further until the ring is disengaged.
