Even after running several ink-wasting cleaning cycles, a couple of the colors on my Epson R800 still have badly clogged nozzles. And yeah, it's largely my own fault for letting it sit idle too long. Now, I've seen on various sites you can get cartridges filled with cleaning solution. I also ran across a homemade rig using a syringe, plastic air tubing for an aquarium, and no-drip window cleaner, and gently forcing (?
) the cleaner through the nozzles until the dried ink dissolves.
Does anybody have any experience in cleaning the nozzles like this? My initial reaction to both is to regard them dubious, particularly the syringe thingie. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
Yes, use the cleaning cartridges first, and I recomend MIS Associates, http://www.inksupply.com/
Then if that does not work household cleaner applied with an eyedropper under the ink cartridge, and let it soak overnight.
Once the clog is dislodged then use Epson ink to run a cleaning cycle.
Thanks for the advice, David. I appreciate it.
I have heard what Mr Brooks suggests works well.
Whether the following is true or not, I have been told, in order not to waste ink or have clog problems, it is best to turn the printer off using the switch on the printer rather than the power block, and in many instances do not use some of the refil brands. ????????? I have always done this and have had no problems with Hp, Epson, Canon. For the rest, I cannot say (I have used a store brand for ordinary photos and have had no problems, but I do rotate and not use the store brand always.. I have been a way for a month and so far so good when I get back. (Watch now, the next time I print I will have clog jams.)
What I did was mix a 50/50 batch of distilled water and ammonia. I removed the ink cartridges where the nozzles were clogged, put a couple drops of the mix in and reinstalled the cartridge. The next day I ran another cleaning cycle, and the was much better. I'm getting myself in the habit of turning the printer on at the power button every day. And on previous advise when I first got the printer, I've never used anything other than Epson cartridges in the devise.
Thanks for all the info!
you might want to try a clean solution like this

or

Before it happens. Can someone, be good enough and let me have a copy of Epson Stylus Photo R800 Part I. It details instructions in Chapter 4 about Disassembly and Assembly.
Epson is being overcautious about releasing this document !
Thanks
