I have an N65...just a toy mostly. I would like to get a "fisheye" lens...again, just a toy (cheap). I see some different ones on ebay for around $40. Are any of these better or worse than others?
Thanks.

You're asking questions about lenses that you're not even providing a manufacturer's name and model number. You'll have to test them to find out. But at that price, you can afford to buy them all and have fun playing.
all the ones Ive seen on Ebay are essentially lens attachments that go on the end of existing lenses. I imagine they would do an adequate job if you are just playing around. A real fisheye that has excellent optical characteristics is going to cost you. The cheapest one i ever used that i felt was pretty good for the price was made by a place in the Ukraine... kievcamera.com they sell a circular image 8mm for $250 and a full frame 16mm for $200...both with Nikon mounts.
I used the 16mm and I liked it a lot. Considering that a "real" Nikon will set you back many times that price... it seemed like a great deal for a real fisheye..
but if playing around is all you want to do, the lens attachments will likley give you a lot of return on the money...
i can think of many $40 items i have bought for photography that i got no use out of...this sounds like it has better potential...
The 16mm Zenitar is a piece of junk compared to the Nikon, but if you don't mind the soft edges or are shooting flash snapshots of your friends at night, well..
An alternative method to reproduce a fish eye effect would be in PS, even cheaper.

a 111mm Goertz Dagor and a 8x10 Deardorf are ABSOLUTE garbage in comparison to a contemporary Schneider Super Angulon attached to a nice Toyo A2........ but somehow Ansel Adams managed to do some pretty nice work....
