Has anyone purchased or used the new Canon Rebel XTi? I am seriously considering purchasing it, just waiting for the backorder at my local camera store to see how it feels
Can anyone help me out here?

I have recently purchased the canon EOS 350D also known as the Rebel XT. Photos are truly pleaseing as well as the capabilities, I will soon purchase a zoom lens as i am using the 18mm - 55mm supplied lens. All my expectations of this camera have been realised. I have also purchased a spare batt, and 2 512 Compact Flash cards to go with this camera.
Thanks for your response. I did purchase the Rebel XTi. I also am going to purchase a zoom lens next and another battery. Used it at the Reno Air Races the day following my purchase and was extremely pleased with it. With I had the zoom lens though for the planes.
I love it. I upgraded from the Canon Digital Rebel (300D). Kind of hard to answer your question - if you have specific concerns, post it and we'll try to address them. However, unless you are in a severe long term penny-pinching situation, don't get too caught up in the body - it's all about the lenses. DSLRs are not like most consumer products where the body is the most important part. In this case the lenses determine picture quality far more than the camera body - not to mention the body evolves every year - not the lenses. Ad old Mk-I EF 50mm lens is still a preferred item by many Canon DSLR owners, for one example. So if money is not a real limitation - research your needs, choose lenses that solve the problem space, then buy a body to compliment the lenses. But, if you need to hang on to the body for a few years or just want a DSLR to more than compensate for the expense and limited selections of studio photographers, then the XTi is a great selection - the value for the money is really unbeatable, even if the D80 and others may edge out the XTi in an area here or there. They simply cannot compete for the price, image quality, number of accessories (including inexpensive 3rd party suppliers like batteries) and vast audience to draw upon.

I just got a Rebel XTi.
I would love to hear more about this camera.
Had several to recommend it.
I do a lot of action shots.
I love the camera. Lots of great features. I am still in the process of learning to use it and haven't it out much for the last couple of months. I bought a DVD tutorial from Adorama and am about halfway through it. It has been much better than the manual (even though it has basically the same stuff as the manual)
I did take some action pictures at my grandson's football game that turned out very good. Used the continuous shot function (not sure that's exactly what it is called)and got some great shots
Hi,
I recently purchased the XTi after taking a photography class at my school and deciding I really wanted to get into photography. Is there any way to view the image you are about to take on the LCD screen instead of having to look through the view finder?
not with that camera. there is a thread about 1 or2 that have that feature in this forum.
Only after the image is captured. That's the way DSLR's work, except for the Olympus E330. Do a search for the Olympus.
Ah. Thanks for the reply. I should have done more research before making the purchase. Another question:
Does the RC-1 Remote control work for the Canon XTi? If no, are what other remote controls work for the XTi?
The RC-1 remote works for the XTi. My wife had a point&shoot with the RC-1 and I tried it for my Rebel and walah! CLICK! Yep it works.
