Canon USA Invades Brazil with an Army of Expert Technicians and High-End Gear for the Rio Olympics

Canon USA has sent a battalion of 70 expert technicians and support personnel to Rio de Janeiro to provide equipment loans and repair services for photographers covering the Summer Olympic Games that kick off with the opening ceremony Friday evening. And as you can see in these images of the Canon Professional Services (CPS) depot room, their arsenal of high-end cameras and lenes is very impressive.

Canon DSLRs and all those big, white lenses will be in abundant use throughout the games by photographers from organizations like the Associated Press who will be using Canon gear exclusively. Other teams loaded up on Canon DSLRs and lenses include Reuters and the European Pressphoto Association.

As we mentioned in a recent story, Getty Images has shipped some $144,000 worth of Canon bodies to Rio, along with a large assortment of lenses.

Elizabeth Pratt, Canon’s Director of Professional Client Development and Support, says “Knowing that iconic images will be captured, seen and shared by people around the world really drives Canon to provide photographers with not only high-quality equipment but the customer support they need to help ensure they never miss a beat.”

Look at this goldmine!!! I would love to one day be a part of something like this or be in a room with all this abundance of equipment.
I'm looking forward to some great images from the Games.
