Canon Extender 2x adapter

I just purchased a Canon Extender 2x adapter lens for my 28-135mm IS USM lens. I use a Canon 40D and that lens to shoot landscapes and Panoramas. I am on a slight budget right now and wanted to expand on using the same lens but dbl. focal distance. I would appreciate if anyone has any good pros and or cons on using this vs. buying another lens. I realize it will be lots of times that I will have to remove this adapter, while out shooting.

Never use an extender unless it is absolutely unavoidable.

That was a blunt answer and I appreciate that. I was hoping it would be a workaround from buying another lens that is at least 70-300mm IS.

David is right. The results you'll get with the extender will only make you regret not having gone with the lens. If your budget won't permit buying the Canon 70-300mm lens, consider going with a third-party lens from Sigma or Tamron, for instance. The results won't be quite as good as from the Canon lens, but they'll be far superior to anything you can get from an extender. You might also consider a used Canon lens from a reputable dealer like KEH (www.keh.com).

I took both yours and David Brooks advice. Once, I had a good sunny day this past week, I put the 2x extender on and tried it out with my lens. This was the 28-135mm IS USM. Now, it was horrible to get some shots as this extender is for lenses with f/2.8 or faster. OK, my lens was f/4.0. That disqualifies it for use with this extender. I have now returned it to the seller on Amazon.com. Again, it was a bad decision on my end to buy the extender.

And, surely, I hope you do not get anything less than 400 mm f/5.6 for wildlife -- and that would be a minimum. Good luck

I understand, it is not recommended to use an extender greater than 1.4, due to lighting problems (forced use of tripod, f-stop need wide openings, etc.

I've got the 1.4 which I use on my canon 70-200 is usm and I don't have any regrets. Nor do I see any significant decline in quality of pic.

The compositions that we do see are those that we have memorized from other artists, stereotypical pictures that easily peak through the noise in our head. To see nature with clarity, non-judgmentally, we need to open our minds and we need to silence the noise. buy youtube views
