Canon Digital Rebel 300D or Rebel XT

I'm fairly new to the photography world. Right now, I'm wanting to purchase a new Canon Digital Camera. I'm currently taking pictures of children, families, sporting events, etc...as a hobby but am thinking of getting a little more serious about my business. Any suggestions which Canon I should purchase...which one is the best option for me? Sorry to be so ignorant, just trying to get started! Thanks

If those are the only two choices I'd go with the XT. XT (350D) has more pixel power and the internals are much faster and better. Noise reduction is outstanding.

If you can bite the bullet then I would say move to the 20D. The extra battery life, faster burst modes and rugged construction may suite your needs better.
