I am new here... Some time ago I purchased a used Canon AE1 system. In the store, at the time, it appeared that all the lenses worked fine. Now I find that neither zoom telephoto (a Sears 28-70 and a Vivitar 75-205) will focus near or at infinity. The Canon standard 50mm lens seems to work fine unless I attach the Focal 2x teleconverter; then it will not focus at infinity, either. Both the Sears 28-70 and the Focal teleconverter appear to be almost brand ne, with very little sign of use. I also recently purchased a new 28-80 zoom that focuses just fine at all distances. I have never used a Canon camera before...is there some sort of adjustment that can be made or needs to be made on the lens mounts after they age/from use, etc?
