I have an AE 1 that I can't get the original lens back on. I removed it to use a zoom lense and now the old one will not go back on even though I follow the manual's instructions. I don't think trying to force it will help and I would rather not break anything. I think the adjustment dials are in the wrong position on the original lens rather than something being broken. Can someone tell me the correct positions?
Is your lens a newer type FD lens, or is it the older type with the chrome locking ring. If the older type, turn the ring counter clockwise with the front element of the lens facing you as if you were to attach it to the camera.
I have the FD lens. Just reviewed the manual and I think it has something to do with the lens release button not popping out. Any idea on how to make sure it is popped out while the lens is off the camera? Or how to tell if it is popped out?
It's been a while since I have had any Canon FD or other Canon MF lenses so I forget how. I suggest that you go onto the Canon web site and download the instruction manual for FD lenses. They probably also have one for your individual lens.
