I don't know from a purely photographic perspective how much weight should be given to "experts" who are primarily and in large part from the computer marketing business, and a web site that is almost entirely supported by advertisers who are retail sellers of the products. Seems like no better than a survey of camera sales people behind the counters of stores like Best Buy and Comp USA.

I would think I'd rather have the opinion of actual independent users of these cameras who have no vested interest in whether or not you buy or not.

I buy a few books and movies on DVD and what I find valuable are the opinions of people who have read the book or seen the movie and voluntarily submitted a review, on internet sales sites like Amazon.com, for instance.

Thank you very much. Those articles really didn't help, and teh 30D is much more expensive. Anyhow, I've been looking at Nikon's and I like the D80. What is your opinion of the Nikon D80 vs. the Canon 30D? I keep looking at the features and everything, but they are basically the same camera I believe. What do you all think?

If you don't mind the opinion of the basicly inexperienced, I use a D70. I got it because I had a bunch of Nikon lenses. If I got a new one today I'd certainly concider the D80, payiny more than that will not make me any better. I would not concider the Rebel because I don't like the way it looks or feel's, bet it is much more capible than I am!
