I am in the process of switching from PC to Mac. I got the 24" iMac a couple of months ago(at the office) and am interested in a laptop for portability as I am constantly on the move and would like to be able to work from home as well. I work 90% CS2, 10% Illustrator and In Design. Am considering Aperture as well. Should I get the MacBook Pro 15" or 17"? And is there a preference between the matte screen and the glossy screen? I will also be getting an external hard drive. Any advise? Thanks
I bought the 17" Mac Pro with a glossy screen last year. I was a PC person for 20 years and still have a PC. I chose the 17" because I also wanted to edit video and the more screen real estate the better. Glossy or matte is really a matter of personal choice. The glossy seems to reflect external lighting more, but it seemed sharper to my older less than perfect eyesight. I am very satisfied with my choice. However, if traveling with your laptop is a high priority, remember bigger is not always better. The choice of backpacks or bags for a 17" laptop is small and a 17" will weigh more. I also bought a 500 GB Lacie external drive. Don't forget the bluetooth mouse which is like having whip cream on strawberry shortcake. Jim
