I guess digital darkroom is place to discuss the subject of backing up data.
Last week I had a scare. On a reboot, one of my hard drives couldn't be read and Windows asked if I wanted to reformat. The drive contained about 100 Gigs of image files, most of which were backed up. But in a case of hard drive failure, you only find out what's missing when you need it. Fortunately I was able to recover the entire contents of the drive using data recovery software, but it changed the way I manage my image files, including installing a Raid card (set to Raid 1) and dual 400 Gig drives for my data files. I've written about it in detail on this page of my web site. So how do other photographers protect their data?
