I'm having a discussion with someone who considers himself a film purist. He believes that the aperture reporting of digital cameras is inaccurate, i.e...even though a zoom lens purports to be f2.8 throughout all focal lengths this is not so and the camera will report f2.8 while the aperture will actually be smaller the longer the focal length.
I posit that if this were the case every hardware review site and photo mag would have published articles about this deception and I have seen no articles or lens tests reporting this type of aperture inaccuracy.
Anyone else heard of this - am I off base, or is he?
