I am seriously looking into a digital SLR. I have spent ALOT of time looking the Nikon D80 & D200 and Canon 30D & the Xti. I believe I have decided on the 30D, but there are a couple features that I really like on the Xti, specifically how the Fstops, ISO, etc are displayed on the LCD when taking a photo, the higher megapixel, and the dust/cleaning feature. I much prefer the durabiltiy, quicker FPS, etc. of the 30D, but am bummed about missing out on the other features. I was wondering if anyone has heard about a new metal constructed EOS coming out anytime soon from Canon? I'd like to theroize that they'd apply these new features to their next model?
David Brooks would most likely be one of the first to know.
You may submit the same question to Canon, they do answer emails.
Until someone leaks some information in Japan you might as well read tea leaves in the bottom of a cup.
Already good construction on EOS digitals.
The higher up models take even a 5D features decent construction(magnesium frame-+).
As far as features on cameras they are/is always going to change more often than not sooner(more frequently) than later as new model introductions take place.
The new model you speak of has some interesting features but its not overidding the 30d to me.
In closing waiting for the next mystical model only is relative to what is placed out there at the time, the next ones 'round the corner anyway.
Might as well "buy what you enjoy and enjoy what you bought"!
You're going to run into this problem with all electronic equipment, not just cameras. But there's an upside to the situation too. I have a RebelXT. It's a great camera, and it continues to be a great camera despite the fact that other cameras have been released since which have more or better features.
Would I like to have those features? Sure! But I'm not so burdened down with the weight of extra cash that I'm going to run right out and buy the latest and greatest equipment because of it. Eventually I'll be looking for a new camera body and at that point I'll buy whatever looks best at the time.
