Thanx Bill, I got the driver and manual for it, but their is no soft ware to down load. Can I just use Photoshop with this? Plus it talks about SCSI something, and I only have USB connecters.

I'm hoping I can get this to work with my computer, I'vee seen pictures done with this, and they look reallly good.

You will need to install a SCSI card in your computer, and get a SCSI cable to connect the scanner. You can get drivers for the scanner from ScanVue at http://www.hamrick.com/, and from Lasersoft (better) at http://www.silverfast.com.

David beat me to it. I just checked the Lasersoft site, and they show the 1236s as SCSI only. David's right about the their Silverfast software - get it if you can. You can download a demo version for free - OK to try it out, but it puts watermarks all over your image. The full version is superior. I use it in both my scanners.

Thanks to you both. I'll have to look around, I don't have a SCSI thing in my computer, had it takenn out to pur in another harddrive. I got the what ever it was from the Agfa place. If there an adapter to make SCSI USB? I got no oprn slots on my Dell.

I have a friennd whose better with cmputers then me, and even says he can build me a new faster one. Will be glad to get this thing working, got lots of negatives to do, and old Polaroids.

One of my scanners is also an SCSI device. I tried an SCSI to USB adapter. It didn't work.....

Thanx for the answer, Bill. I guess I'll have to get a SCSI thing put in, when I rework this computer.

Just because you got the Agfa scanner free, it may not be much of a bargain if you have to buy and install a SCSI card and also buy software to run the scanner. If you are planning on using it to scan prints, you should maybe look at how inexpensive new scanners now are that match the Agfa's performance specifications.

Thanx for the extra info, this scanner has the top that makes it scan negatives, and my friend is going to look for the soft ware for it.

If he cann't find it, can I still use photoship with it?
