I just bought a 60mm micro lens, came some of you show me the differnt subjects that you use to shoot with this lens? I first bought it b/c everything I read on said it was a good close up lens for protrits and nature. I have a small studio .as a hobby I shoot alot of childern and wanted to do some nature. I use a nikon d70s and just got the d2oo. Thank you all:D
It is probably the most versatile lens you will ever own. About the only thing it does not do well is wide-angle - obviously. On the D70 or D200, it is the classic 90mm focal length for portraits. (The DX sensor has a 1.5x cropping factor that effectively makes the 60mm lens equivalent to a 90mm lens on a 35mm camera.)
In the studio it is short enough that you are in close communication with your subject, but long enough to provide no distortion to faces. Outdoors, it will let you select subjects with a moderately narrow view, and using a wide aperture, you can easily soften the background to be less distracting.
Its greatest virtue is that it will focus from macro all the way to infinity. No further close up lenses are required in most cases. It will shoot little crawly critters and flowers, but also landscapes. Use with a tripod, to get the sharpest, most detailed images your cameras are capable of producing.
wow! I can'nt wait to take it out door's, it has been raining here in Little Rock AR for the last few days so I have not been able to use it.
