I had questions regarding the settings one can use on the the 430 EX Speedlite. I have the manual, read it thoroughly, but it doesn't really help you expand on the subject, you know? In the Flash's screen, on the top, I read "Zoom 50mm" and next to it is a square looking symbol. The "Zoom" setting goes all the way to "Zoom 105mm". What exactly does all this mean? What would be the best setting to shoot using the flash as a fill flash in bright conditions, and then using the flash in low light conditions? Does the ISO affect how the flash is fired? Any other pointers you guys can have for me to do test shots, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks a bunch!

The zoom setting on a flash, focuses the light into a narrower or wider spread to cover the focal length number in the setting. 105mm would be a telephoto, compared to 28mm which would be a wide angle spread of light.
For basic fill, most camera manufacturer's flash should be set for always on and let the camera/flash work together to automatically provide the amount of light. That's how the Nikon flashes work. Beauty of digital is that you can look at the LCD after taking the photo and see if your exposure is accurate.
