Between our families, we have 1000+ slides of various sizes. Some were taken in the 40's and 50's. PANA-VUE Slide, Kodachrome transparency, and many other names/sizes. We also have thousands of strips of 35mm film. We would like to purchase one scanner to transfer all to digital storage for archival purposes. Quality is important b/c they are one-of-a-kind family photos. We have youth labor (ours) who will be doing most of the labor, so, we're not as concerned with speed of the transfer. We'd like to spend less than $500 for complete set up.

What software or accessories do you recommend? We use Windows XP.
