I am shooting with the Canon 20D and the 70-300 1:4-5.6 IS lens. It has been a great combination for outdoor sporting events for the casual photographer that I am. With hockey season now upon us, I have taken the pair indoors under a roof and lighting and in some cases shooting from behind the glass that have provided results less than my outdoor works. The clarity of the shots have not been bad but the lighting with the ice background is just not the same. I have tried using the "P" and "AV" modes and have recently read up on several "TV" settings. Any suggestions or advice that you have would be appreciated.
I am also looking at a good second lens as an alternative to the 18-55 stock lens for close up action and while my first choice is the 17-85 IS lens, I would like to try to find a quality lens that won't set me back so much as this one woould.
