1001 camera bags and back packs, and not one of them with builtin hydration system! I reckon no one other than me sweats or gets thursty lugging all that camera equipment???
Heck even the army started putting places for hydration systems in there packs years ago.
I'd like to see something along these lines:
hydration system, molle style webbing to attach additional pouches, and gear, hip panels with the above webbing to attach holster style camera cases.
Something like a camelback motherlode with the internals optimized for camera gear.
Then I'd like some lens cases that were molle compatible.
But that's me...

I can't help but wonder what the reaction of people who had a water bladder accidentally burst all over their camera gear might be... A camera bag/hydration system combo sounds to me like a lawsuit waiting to happen!
Well, the good ones (like Camelback) don't burst, but they can leak. I have two Camelback daypacks, but the camera never goes inside.
I just got this Camelbak with the intention of modding it for a ruck/camera bag.
The thing is huge and has ample storage space with more than enough room(for me at least) in the main compartment. The bladder sits in a seperate compartment so all I'd be concerned about is sealing it with a spray or barrier of sorts. I've had a small amount of success, but I'll probably keep messing with it.
BTW, this is the pic from the ebay listing I purchased from.
The shipping was slow, but the seller was very apologetic via emails and sent it 2nd day FedEx.
Is that the BFH? (I have a motherlode, but am not willing to mod it as I use extensively for what it was originally intended
)
I might consider modifying the motherlode if I got another one or if I picked up one of the kifaru packs to replace the motherlode.
I'd be interested in seeing how you do the mods. Also recommend you track down something called a "malice clip" for attaching items to the molle webbing on the pack, if you add additional pouches.
Keep us informed on this project - might be something others (me) would consider copying or doing something similar...
thanks!
Tim
It's the BFM, as far as the modding all I've done so far is some foam inserts w/cutouts for gear. Not to happy with it as of yet, but I'm still sorting it out. I figured I'd be able to take them out for whenever I wanted to use it as a ruck. If I do ever become happy with it I'll certainly post some pics for you.
Never considered using any Alice Clips on it though as I didn't think much of them while in the Army. They always seemed to loosen up unless whatever attached pouch was secured with gutted 550 cord.
Not ALICE clips, MALICE clips - check out tactical tailor or light fighter's the MALICE clips are 1000% better than the old ALICE clips - and a bit easier to work with than 550 cord.

even if the bladder did rupture it would be in a seperate compartment with water proof materal between the gear and the bladder and the bladder area could also have a drain hole in the bottom of it to allow any liquids to drain out harmlessly on the ground.
